Mid-term journal
I shot video of myself doing a flip. Then took stills off the movie using
FCP2. The quality was pretty lousy. I had to bring the stills into PS
and use the paths tool to select the part I needed. I filled the selections
with black. The different stills I combined into 1 8.5x11 document which
I printed and took to Kinkos. For the cost of a bout $1 Kinkos copied
the silhouettes onto acetate.
I cut the silhouettes out of the paper and made a mock up on a piece of
cardboard. I can get the board spinning but I have trouble controlling
the speed with the potentiometer. It get really hot, maybe it needs a
resistor, but what size.
I still need to buy a strobe. I spent over and hour walking down 14th
St. looking for a lighting store to no avail. I will just have to buy
one from the place across the street from Tisch.
There is still a question of whether the acetate will glue well to the
plastic
maybe, I will have to use black cut out figures and glue
those down.
